ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

COMMITMENT

Our Management has ultimate responsibility for environmental performance. This responsibility and the commitment to the achievement of environmental excellence are part of the foundation of our business management system. Our business units are therefore committed to:

  • Promoting a culture in which all employees share this commitment
  • A target of zero environmental incidents
  • Endeavor to ensure our activities are not hazards to environment
  • Assessing environmental consequences of activities on the environment inorder to limit disturbance
  • Operating in a safe manner to avoid spills, leaks and accidental discharge of materials generating pollution
  • Using energy resources and materials efficiently in all our operations
  • Limiting the quantities of waste and other discharges and handling or disposal of them in an appropriate manner
  • Maintaining pollution contingency plans and the capability to respond in an emergency
  • Transparency in the reporting of the Company's health and safety performance

VISION

We aim to be acknowledged by our industry as a standard setter in environmental management. We will be regarded as an expert in delivering high environmental performance across our diverse workforce in all our operational locations.

OBJECTIVES

To meet this commitment our business units will:


  • Develop and implement a systematic approach to environmental management within the regulatory and other requirements mandated by law in which we operate and in accordance with the appropriate national or international standards
  • Ensure that our environmental goals and standards are understood and followed at all levels in the Company in accordance with national and international regulations
  • Ensure environmental protection and preservation measures and controls are in place to effectively manage identified environmental risks and hazards at every location where our business is undertaken
  • Set targets and objectives for continuous environmental performance improvements
  • Measure, appraise and report on environmental performance
  • Provide appropriate training for all staff to enable them to carry out their work in due respect and care for the environment and that all employees actively promote environmental awareness
  • Hold appropriately empowered line management accountable for environmental performance
  • Empower all our employees to refrain from actions that they consider a threat to the environment
  • Engage with our clients, companies we work with, partners or suppliers who endeavor to ensure that their environmental standards match our own
  • Periodically review the suitability and effectiveness of this policy, our management systems, targets and objectives

RESPONSIBILTY AND IMPLEMENTATION

Responsibility for compliance with this policy lies with the Group Executive Officer, Area Managers, Project Managers and their respective business unit Department Managers. It is also a responsibility of individuals to endeavor to make themselves aware of the possible environmental risks and to take measures to reduce this risks at their work locations. Our business units will implement this policy through their documented business management system and conduct periodic audits and reviews to verify compliance and promote continual improvement.
